This is an ecumenical event, planned by seven local congregations (4 Church of Scotland, 1 Scottish Episcopal and 2 Roman Catholic) to praise God. The other participating congregations are Cardonald, St Nicholas, Hillington Park, Penilee St Andrew, Good Shepherd, Our Lady and St George.

Congratulations to the 44th on retaining the UK Table Tennis trophy on Saturday 12 May 2012! As, for the first time, the UK-level competition was held in Glasgow this year, the victory on home soil was especially satisfying.
As the current holders, the 44th Glasgow Company of the Boys' Brigade successfully defended their UK Table-Tennis title on Saturday. After a full day's play, our team, consisting of Adam Gaffney, Ross McNulty, Josh Liddell and Keiran Morris, edged out the 4th Southampton (5 matches to 4) in a tense final. This represents two in a row for the 44th and is testimony to the coaching of Alex and Craig Hardie, who prepare the boys to compete and succeed at the highest national level. The 44th have now won this trophy four times in the last eight years - a terrific achievement that shows the talent within the company.
The feel-good factor was enhanced by success in another competition on the morning of Saturday 12 May 2012. The 44th Glasgow Company's team of boys (aged P6-S2) managed to win the Battalion 11 a-side Football Competition. This was a great day for all who rejoice in the successes of Cardonald Parish Church Boys' Brigade.

On Sunday 1 May 2012, the Congregation arrived at Cardonald Parish Church to find in the immaculately maintained gardens beside Cardonald Place Road a new noticeboard. The old noticeboard had become a casualty of the weather and the time had come for a replacement and relocation. It is encouraging that so many people now stop to have a read of the new board, which lists varied activities laid on by Cardonald Parish Church. We hope that everyone who can will come along to activities on our premises that suit their needs.
We especially hope that you will come to our services of worship.
Our Main Service is at 11:15 a.m. every Sunday.
Details of it and of Sunday School are usually available from our website.
We also have a member-led service on a Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 10:20 a.m. Check out our online calendar to see other events of a spiritual or community nature that should suit your needs.
If you double-click on the adjacent picture of the noticeboard, you should be able to view it in higher resolution.

First draft opposition

Momentum gathers

The Strategy Advisory Group (StAG) of the Presbytery of Glasgow have published their highly complicated and controversial first draft Revised Presbytery Plan.
The following areas are well worth exploring.

Strategy Action Group's
of Revised Presbytery Plan - (Involves two documents at the top of the linked page). Presbytery is to debate the first draft on Tuesday 13 March 2012. It is anticipated that considerable opposition to the first draft will be expressed at that meeting.

Facebook Presbytery Plan
- You need to be a member of Facebook to access the page. To leave a comment, please "Like" it. The forum is intended to enable presbyters to engage in informed discussion of the issues raised. It provides those who do not frequent the corridors of power within the Presbytery an opportunity of learning about what is being said and the issues.

Tony Ireland's documents. An Elder from Giffnock South Parish Church offers a stimulating critique of the first draft, suggests an alternative, and his spreadsheet includes liberality data absent from the StAG version. Download Tony Ireland's (a) covering
and (b)
. It is worth noting that at the General Assembly of 2010 the Presbytery of Glasgow failed to prevent Giffnock South from winning its appeal against the Presbytery's interpretation and implementation of the currently suspended Presbytery Plan.

The latest major addition to the gathering saga are the Cathcart Notes. An eye-witness, present as an observer, has written
summarising the disposition of an open meeting held in Cathcart Old Parish Church on Sunday 4 March 2012.

A record of a meeting for congregations in Priority Areas has also been posted.

Gifts for Robin House, Balloch.

Both children and adults are invited to bring gifts to the church on Sunday 11th December 2011 at 11:15 a.m. These should be wrapped and labelled on the outside of the wrapping either “boy” or “girl” and the age group for which the present might be appropriate. (5 to 16 years). Toys, books, toiletries and jewellery would all be acceptable. Parents are also given pamper presents e.g. toiletry sets, boxes of chocolates etc. Perhaps you might want to donate one of these.
Gifts are for Robin House, Balloch. Robin House is part of the Children's Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS). If there are more gifts than they require, these will go to other CHAS homes and ventures.
Early in the service, Miss Jeanette Buchanan from CHAS will speak to the Congregation about the work of the charity. Jeanette has long-standing connections with Cardonald Parish Church. She will be accompanied by one of their volunteers, Mr Alex Malcolm, who will be on hand at the close of the service to receive and transport all the gifts.
During this service, our new Organ will be dedicated to the glory of God.
