On Christmas morning, at 11:15 a.m., 25 December 2016, we drew our Christmas celebrations to a climax with a Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols. Various members of the Congregation read the lessons, interspersed with popular carols sung by the whole congregation, which though diminished by people being away with family, was augmented by visitors, newcomers, and old friends.
Readers were Christine Brownlie, Edward Miles, Margaret Hardie, Charlie Gibson, David Clews, Gus McKay, Beth-Joy MacLeod, Fergus Stewart (who read from the Glasgow Gospel), and the Minister. Congregants had twice the usual opportunities to sing praise, which meant double the effort by the Organist.
There was a final opportunity to contribute to the Christmas Collection for Glasgow’s Lodging House Mission.
