At 10:45 a.m. members of the Prayer Group invite others to join them as they uphold in prayer all that happens in our premises on a Sunday morning. Prayer is offered for those responsible for preparing the sanctuary and the worship; the people who gather to attend the service, those who greet them; those who prepare and deliver the Christian Education programme, as well as the children being nurtured in the faith, and the homes and families to which they belong; the fellowship in the waiting room over coffee/tea. There is plenty for which to pray — such as safe travel for the journeys that people make to and from the church, bus-drivers, those whose duties relate to the uplifting and counting of the offering, and those who tidy up afterwards.
At 7:30 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday of each month, the Prayer Meeting is held in the Committee/Waiting Room. This meeting is open to all. It lasts for half and hour, and members are free to pray for any topic for which they have been moved to pray. These topics will vary from international tensions and tragedies to individual concerns, from practical attempts to meet local needs to give thanks for the beauty of the universe, and the wonder of our salvation. Naturally, we pray for the Church in all its branches, and those in positions of responsibility throughout the world. More information is available in the section of the website that lists activities for adults under the heading Prayer Meeting.
At 7:30 p.m. on the Friday before Communion Sundays, the Elders of the Kirk Session prepare themselves by attending a prayer service. They then prepare the church by dressing the pews with white linen. They also check and prepare the vessels and elements that will be used in the distribution of the Lord’s Supper.
